Modoc Beats Frisco Roughriders by 12 Runs

Modoc easily did away with Frisco Roughriders 17-5 on Thursday In the first inning, Frisco Roughriders got their offense started. Michael Smethers singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Modoc pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second Matt Garrabrants singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, James Gardner singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Eddie Paschall drew a walk, scoring one run. Modoc notched six runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught by Modoc was led by Dave Lovell, Brant Farris, Chris Clark, Gardner, and Josh Claudio, all driving in runs in the frame. Bill Kelly was credited with the victory for Modoc. The lefty allowed seven hits and three runs over three innings, striking out two and walking zero. Garrabrants threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Garrabrants recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Modoc. Smethers took the loss for Frisco Roughriders. The hurler lasted five innings, allowing 14 hits and 13 runs while striking out two. Modoc tallied 18 hits. Clark, Farris, Gardner, Travis Hitzman, and Garrabrants each had multiple hits for Modoc. Gardner, Farris, and Clark each collected three hits to lead Modoc. Farris led Modoc with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 13 stolen bases. Frisco Roughriders saw the ball well today, racking up ten hits in the game. Dennis Brady and Keith Riley all managed multiple hits for Frisco Roughriders.
