Modoc Holds Off Thunderbirds as 5-Run Deficit Is Nearly Erased Despite seeing its five-run lead whittled down by the end, Modoc still held off Thunderbirds for an 8-6 victory on Thursday. Jerry Anderson hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run. Modoc took the lead for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Brant Farris singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, Matthew Palumbo tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, and Chris Clark grounded out, scoring one run. Adam Gremillion earned the win for Modoc. The righty surrendered six runs on 11 hits over six innings, striking out four. Wilson took the loss for Thunderbirds . The pitcher lasted three innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs while striking out two. Modoc saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game. Joe Lowery and Farris all had multiple hits for Modoc. Farris and Lowery each collected two hits to lead Modoc. Modoc didn’t commit a single error in the field. Travis Hitzman had the most chances in the field with five. Thunderbirds totaled 11 hits. Whanger, John Menth, and Don Massoud each collected multiple hits for Thunderbirds .
